This is a challenging but always fun 2-loop 10k at Jericho. Be prepared for mud, sand, hills, 'puddle from hell', snow, ice — all have happened in recent years! There is also a good portion on short grass and quite a bit of flat terrain. The best part is the post-race social in the sailing club, free showers, hot and cold food, lots of goodies. LAST RACE of the XC Series! 11am start. And YES you can do this one AND run the Holiday Hustle the next day. www.lgrr.com/gshaw/
Hosted by the Brooks Secondary Personal Fitness students. All proceeds go to the Powell River Food Bank. This is strictly a fun run and participants are encouraged to dress in red & white festive wear. Treats will be available post-race & participants can feel good about helping those in the community less fortunate than themselves. Info on Avid Fitness site
This was a blast when 7 of us went in 2008, and the courses have been improved since then (different distances, more trail running)! This is an Alaska Running Cruise with husband and wife team John 'The Penguin' Bingham and Coach Jenny Hadfield. Run the world's only staged maritime marathon... a series of runs at the various ports of call and on the ship: road, cross-country, deck run. By the end of the week you'll have run the marathon distance (26.2 miles) and have seen some of the world's most beautiful landscapes. Departs from Seattle. Check out all the details and itinerary at www.gammcruise.com.
