The REALLY big one! Over 50,000 participants, one of the biggest events in North America. Starts at 9am so we can take the 6:20 ferry and get there in plenty of time. Pre-registration only, no race day sign up (but out of towners can pick up race kits on race day). www.sunrun.com
Run or hike a 29k portion of the Sunshine Coast Trail at this Club Fat Ass Flash event. There's also a Half Shuffle (12k). Website: www.clubfatass.com/events/marathon-shuffle
A long trip but worth it for a weekend visit. Make it a short trip by flying with Westcoast Air. Beautiful course and of course Victoria is in bloom at this time of year. www.tc10k.ca

This was a blast when 7 of us went in 2008, and the courses have been improved since then (different distances, more trail running)! This is an Alaska Running Cruise with husband and wife team John 'The Penguin' Bingham and Coach Jenny Hadfield. Run the world's only staged maritime marathon... a series of runs at the various ports of call and on the ship: road, cross-country, deck run. By the end of the week you'll have run the marathon distance (26.2 miles) and have seen some of the world's most beautiful landscapes. Departs from Seattle. Check out all the details and itinerary at www.gammcruise.com.
