VOLUNTEER for free entry: Club members, if you volunteer for 1 or more club hosted events (on the lower Coast) in a given year, you will get free entry into one of the other club hosted events (on the lower Coast)! Your next opportunity is the Sechelt Canada Day Mile on July 1st.

January 1, 2013: Resolution Run/Walk, Sechelt

Resolution Run, Sechelt

Fun run on New Year's Day. Come to Porpoise Bay Park for a 2k to 10k run or walk (using the 2km loop from the Fall Tune-Up), starting and finishing in front of the beach. Choose your distance. Start time 12 noon. Entry fee $2 per person includes post-race refreshments. Sign up race day 11:15-11:45am. Enjoy a fun run to get your year started off on the right foot (or left foot!). Display clock will be set up so you can see your time.

April 7, 2013: BMO Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run, presented by Coast Cable

BMO Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run

A Sunshine Coast fixture since 1978. Over 500 finishers in 2012. Starting at the Gibsons Community Centre, finishing at Mission Point Park in Davis Bay. Finisher medals for individuals and relays. Cash prizing for top 3 overall and top 3 masters M&F. Unique souvenir awards for age group top 3. Event #4 of the Lower Mainland Road Race Series. Event records 1:06:23 (Ryan Day) and 1:18:03 (Keddi-Anne Sherbino). Free Kids' Run for age 7&U. www.foolsrun.com.

July 1, 2013: Sechelt Canada Day Mile, Sechelt

Canada Day Mile

It's back! After 4-year hiatus, the Sechelt Canada Day Mile is returning this summer. In conjunction with the Canada Day parade and festivities, this is a one mile road race in downtown Sechelt on a flat 1.5 lap course with a built-in cheering section. July 27, 2013: Sea Cavalcade Mile, Gibsons

Our mid summer July mile, 11th annual. Fast net downhill course to start the Sea Cavalcade parade, with cash prizes for the overall winners and medals for age group winners. Great crowd to cheer you on! The 2012 race had a record 101 finishers, with a 50/50 split between M & F, adult and child. www.seacavalcade.ca/events/mile.htm

August 11, 2013: Four Lakes 10k + 3k Family Fun Run/Walk, Garden Bay

Four Lakes 10k

A scenic summer 10k run in Garden Bay from Katherine Lake to Hotel Lake and back, passing Garden Bay Lake and Mixal Lake along the way. The 3k Family Fun Run/Walk includes 3 of the lakes. August 16, 2013: Blackberry Mile, Powell River

Blackberry Mile, Powell River

4th Annual Mile hosted by our Powell River branch! During the Blackberry Festival in Powell River, this is a Friday evening run at 6pm followed by festivities in the downtown streets and fireworks at dusk. Cash prizes for the overall winners, draw prizes, refreshments. www.avidfitness.ca/bbm/

August 25, 2013: Run the Rock Marathon, Half & 8k, Texada Island

Run the Rock Marathon and Half, Texada Island

Third Annual Marathon and Half on idyllic Texada Island, now with an 8k added! Single loop course (marathon) with the half marathon using the second half of the route. September 22, 2013 (TBC): Loon Lake 13km and 7km

Loon Lake Run

A beautiful trail run in Powell River, on a dead flat 13 kilometre wheelchair accessible trail around the very edge of the lake. It starts and finishes at a fully serviced campground with a full-time caretaker. Where else in coastal BC can you run on 13 kilometres of wide manicured trail around a lake without even a bump? For those wanting to run a shorter distance, there is the Anthony Island 7k — an out & back utilizing the first 3.5k of the full lake trail — again, dead flat. www.avidfitness.ca/loonlake/

September 29, 2013: Halfmoon Bay Fire Department 10k

Halfmoon Bay Fire Department 10k

This is a fundraiser for the HMB Volunteer Fire Department, and runs from the Welcome Woods fire hall to the hall by the General Store. Holiday Hustle 5k

Second year for this event with a musical and Christmas theme — at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt. Fundraiser for the Chatelech Concert Band, and for the Elves Club Christmas Hamper program.
